Steven Cotton

Steven Cotton, CEO

Steve is the CEO and co-founder of FireScope and brings more than twenty years of senior executive operating experience in both private and public high growth companies. Steve spent the last eight years running four technology companies as COO or CEO. All four companies experienced rapid growth under Steve's leadership and achieved substantial value creation for shareholders. Steve also has diverse operating experience across other industries. Steve was the CFO and Chief Development Officer for Panda Express which is the largest chain of Chinese fast food restaurants in the United States. Steve was directly responsible for raising the growth capital for Panda Express and all of its restaurant development during his tenure. Steve and the founders grew the company from 5 restaurants to over 300 restaurants in a 5-year period and the company currently generates over $1B in annual revenues. After Panda Express, as COO, Steve also helped build a start-up automotive company to $100 million in revenue in four years. Steve's leadership philosophy is to focus on understanding his customers businesses and providing technology solutions that help them simplify and improve their business models.

 

Mark Lynd

Mark Lynd, President and COO

In addition to his role as President and COO, Mark is the chief architect of all FireScope solutions, based on concepts he originally conceived of before co-founding FireScope. Mark previously served as Global CTO at Lone Star Funds\Hudson Advisors, a multi-billion dollar global private equity firm. Served six years as CEO of Vectrix, a venture-backed company and has served in various executive, senior and technical management roles with Metromedia, Perot Systems, Amerada Hess, DC Systems and GTE, securing more than 23 years of experience in IT, information security, media and ITSM. Mark holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Tulsa, along with industry certifications such as the CISSP, ISSAP, ISSMP, PMP and CEH. He was named an Ernst & Young's "Entrepreneur of Year - SW Region" Finalist. He presented the Doak Walker Award on ESPN. Mark has served and serves on several corporate boards including FireScope, SMU's Cox School of Business, Vectrix and others. Mark served honorably in the United States Army's 3rd Ranger Battalion, and the 82d Airborne Division.

 

Kevin Johnson

Kevin Johnson, Executive Vice President

Before joining FireScope, Kevin worked at Siebel Systems where he was a member of Siebel's Executive Committee and served as the head of Sales and General Manager of European operations. He also filled the roles of Senior Vice President of Business Development, Vice President of Legal Affairs and Chair of the Siebel Pricing Committee. As Siebel's chief legal officer, Kevin helped CEO and founder Tom Siebel take Siebel Systems public in June 1996. Prior to this, he held various management and legal positions in Gupta Corporation, NETg and National Education Corporation. Kevin was a Litigation Associate with the law firm of Schramm & Raddue in Santa Barbara California, and also served as Atrari Inc.'s first Law Clerk while attending the University of Santa Clara School of Law. Kevin also attended the University of California at Davis where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Agricultural Economics.

 

Paul Appleby

Paul Appleby, Executive Vice President - Asia Pacific and Japan

Most recently Paul Appleby was Managing Director of Continental Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and Japan for Travelex Plc, the world's largest non-bank Foreign Exchange provider. Prior to Travelex he was an executive with Oracle Corporation where he held the position of Vice President Asia Pacific. Both at Oracle and in his prior role as Vice President of Siebel Corporation, Paul was responsible for the development and execution of growth strategies across the Asia Pacific Region. In earlier roles, Paul was respectively CEO of publicly listed B2C ecommerce company Gocorp and Director of both Financial Services and Telecommunications for the German software company SAP.

 

Josh Levine

Josh Levine, VP Business Development

Josh has over 16 years experience in business development and marketing in the technology and entertainment industries. A five year veteran of Microsoft, Josh drove partnerships and global OEM business development deals for Microsoft.com and ran the Windows web, content, and community team for the Windows Group. During his tenure at Microsoft, Josh launched the first corporate-wide search and advertising partnership between Microsoft and Google and was part of the Windows XP launch team, driving partnership programs for Microsoft.com. After Microsoft, Josh was VP of Marketing at Crush or Flush, a mobile social networking platform where he was responsible for marketing and customer acquisition. This venture backed startup generated over 1.5M unique and validated mobile registrations, 100M monthly page views, and signed contractual agreements with all U.S. carriers within its first 18 months. Prior to moving to Seattle, Josh worked for both Disney in Business Planning and Development and for small growth companies, focused on customer acquisition and product launches. Josh holds an M.B.A. in Information Technology from The Paul Merage School of Business at UC Irvine.

 

Gary Staley

Gary Staley, Executive Vice President, Sales

Gary has over 20 years of successful sales and sales management experience in the technology sector, and most recently was Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales at Imperva, the leader in IT Data Security. During his tenure at Imperva, Gary re-organized the company's international field operations and significantly expanded the global sales organization which led to record-breaking year-over-year growth in bookings, revenues and new customer wins. Prior to Imperva, Gary spent seven years at EMC in the Resource Management Software Group (now called Ionix) ultimately leading the RMSG field organization as VP of Worldwide Sales. Gary arrived at EMC through the acquisition of SMARTS, a leader in enterprise systems management where he was a key contributor in the growth of SMARTS from small privately-held start-up to world-class software platform provider. Gary has also held several senior sales and sales leadership roles at a number of telecommunications companies including AboveNet, Alcatel-Lucent and VerizonBusiness. Gary attended Ohio University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
